This summer I visited for the first time the architecture biennial held in Venice. I was familiar with the contemporary art biennial of Venice (I’m lucky of living two hours train distance from there) but I’ve been encouraged to visit the architecture biennial by a friend. So good advice!
I found plenty of drawings and infographics made with a style that I love.
My favourite installation was: Calculating Empires: A Genealogy of Technology and Power Since 1500 — an ambitious installation by internationally acclaimed artists and researchers Kate Crawford and Vladan Joler and presented in partnership with Powerhouse — which has been awarded the Silver Lion, that is the second place award at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia.
I later discovered that this project was also awarded the Grand Prize for Artistic Exploration by STARTS initiative, where the European Commission focusses on projects and people that make meaningful contributions to innovation in Science, Technology, and Arts (STARTS for short), with the aim to master the social, ecological and economic challenges that Europe will be facing in the near future.

I’m still studying, topic after topic, the full content of this infographic at the website of the authors. You can find it here: calculatingempires.net
Architecture, art and technology are all themes dear to me. I played with architectural drawing recently: you can find one example of my drawings in the image below, and more of them on the Instagram profile @the_cult_of_ink.
