River of dreams

Exhibits

It’s refreshing, when I manage to stay in the sun, together with the colours of water, during my 5-seams per day short session. It reminds me of the wonderful atmosphere I found on the Tagliamento river last Sunday, when I visited it again after years.

In the past I used to go very often to the Tagliamento river, reaching it after a short travel by train and by bike. This week I experimented a new version: train plus walk. One hour and a half of train, and one hour of walk were needed, before reaching the riverbed. But when I was there, in a wonderful sunny day, it was extremely welcoming.

The river is capable to create infinite textures. On the sand, I found many types of waves. And small little dots created by the rain, no idea how many days before. I didn’t dare to put the imprint of my feet on that sand, I felt immense respect for the marks created by nature. I rather walked on the stones and on the branches of fallen trees.

I have created many quilts dedicated to rivers, three of them only for Tagliamento river, together with a photo gallery exhibit and a photo book, which is available for free download at this link.

Returning to the river this weekend was like walking inside one of my dreams. I dream, sometimes of being again on the river. Evidently, it’s a place of must-return.
